Mauve Factor, Pyroluria or Pyrrole Disorder are three different names used for the same genetic condition.
This condition, which causes anxiety and depression, usually begins in the late teens and lasts a lifetime.
Its degree of severity is very much influenced by stress and is often triggered by a traumatic event like the death of a loved one, moving away from family or even school exams.
There is usually a family history of mental health conditions and addictions.
What causes Mauve Factor?
Mauve Factor is a blood disorder whereby cells, called kryptopyrroles, multiply too rapidly during the process of hemoglobin production. This blocks the receptor sites for Vitamin B6 and zinc and causes severe deficiencies to develop. The lack of these vital nutrients directly affects brain chemistry and psychological health.
Mauve Factor has only been recognized as a medical condition for about 10 years and as such is not well known among health practitioners.
Patients are often prescribed medications such as SSRI’s (Selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors) and antipsychotics. They tend not to respond well to drugs but do show improvement with nutrient therapy.
